Hey everyone,
I've set up an Etsy account so I can sell my handmade goods/artworks. Unfortunately, all that is up so far are some of my photography works, but I'll be continually adding new stuff. Within the next couple of months I plan on selling my handmade shoulder bags and purses, as well as some of my artworks. Please take a look and keep checking back!

Well...
It's been quite a while, over three weeks. I do happen to have quite a bit of new work floating around the house, I just haven't gotten around to photographing it. It always seems like such an inconvenience to take photos - good photos anyway. I hope to do it sometime soon, but I admit I've been more stressed than usual, lately, as I have made the final decision to apply for VCD (Visual Communications Design) next year; a decision riddled with stress, exhaustion and work. The portfolio submission is without a doubt the most daunting thing I've seen in a long time, only for the fact that I didn't take quite the right classes this semester to help me. I truly think that the school should make certain classes required prerequisites for the program, just so that others would not be in the silly situation I am, finding themselves, for lack of a better term, screwed.

Unfortunately, at this point everything seems to be a work in progress, or rather, a work in eternal progress.  I have a number of projects on the go, and probably two or so that I could post up pretty soon. I just don't know quite when I'll have the time and energy to do so. I've also got three essay assignments due and a midterm in the next week, so that may also cause delay. Check back soon!

Lately I've had this fascination with the human body, but only sections of it. For instance, I am so intrigued by the idea of just human hips/legs walking around, without their upper halves. This fascination, I admit, came from a supreme sense of laziness..which led me to thinking that I'm tired of having to hold up my upper body all the time. In any case, I sense this will be the theme of my next independent project.

Here are the three pieces from my Design class, I'll give a brief description of what the project was, under each!

This project was titled "Famous Words." Essentially, we had to represent a
quote from a movie or famous person through typography only. We were
restricted to using only black and white and shades of grey. Medium is cut
paper on illustration board.

This project was a 'Structural Abstraction," which entailed taking an
architectural photograph and through 3 steps, completely abstracting
it, whilst maintaining the 'essence' of the image. Medium is cut paper
on bristol board.

This project was called "Variety Within Unity." For this, we had to
select a phrase that contained contradictory terms and represent them
in a unified way that still conveyed the contrast. Medium was cut paper
on illustration board.
Hello again! I've gotten a chance to upload some more of my work. It just couldn't happen last week, I was working on a project for my drawing class and found myself struggling for time...as per usual. In any case, I'll start by posting some of my older works from the past couple years, and then I'll post a select few of the projects I completed last semester for my Design Fundamentals class. On that note, I must admit that that class was incredibly challenging for me, mostly in terms of time and shear volume of work. However, I learned a lot of really important principles and came out a better artist for it. I am incredibly grateful for all that I learned in that class.
Now...for the art:

[LEFT] Graphite on sketchbook paper
[RIGHT] Ink on sketchbook paper
each 8.5" x 11"

"Undiscovered Realities"

I completed this piece just last week, for my Jewelry and Metals 101 class. This set of pierced sterling silver earrings were inspired by the song "Butterflies and Hurricanes" by the artist Muse.

Coming Up

So...I've just been photographing some more pieces, I just need to upload them and then they should be up fairly soon. I've got a few pieces from last semesters classes, as well as a two pieces from my Jewelry and Metals class this semester. I'm going to begin my next Drawing 120 project later today, so it should be a wonderful afternoon.

Past Works

One of my earlier watercolour pieces.

"Beneath the Ground"
Watercolour
8.5" x 11"

"Curiosity"
Charcoal on Stonehenge
 3 panel installment: each 30" x 40"

This is my first ever blog post. I opened this blog so that I could have a place to post my artwork as it is created and so that I could voice my thoughts when no one around me feels like listening. I'm going to begin by posting my most recent charcoal piece that was created for a project in my Drawing 120 class. It's a triptych narrative piece in which I am the subject in all three components.
